Moffatt & Nichol is seeking a Civil/Hydraulic/Water-Resources Engineer with 1 to 4 years of experience to join our Houston office located in The Woodlands, Texas. As the successful team member, you will be responsible for assisting in the development of surface water hydraulic, hydrologic and hydrodynamic modeling; flood risk management preparation of design documents for civil site development; waterfront projects; and drainage projects (calculations, reports, drawings, and technical specifications). The team member will be part of an integrated design team and be responsible for coordinating civil design and modeling, along with other disciplines, to meet project schedules and budgets, while working directly under licensed Professional Engineers.
Duties and responsibilities:
Perform preliminary and detailed engineering design tasks for water resources projects
Perform numerical modeling in support of stormwater and drainage improvements projects
Prepare plans, specifications, cost estimates, in support of final bid packages
Ability to establish effective working relationships with team members and project managers
Participate in design activities and meetings between project team members, subcontractors, and client managers
Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, feasibility, cost, construction approaches, and scheduling performance
Prepares written and graphic reports and makes presentations
Prepares various draft documents under direction, including reports and technical memoranda.

Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources or related discipline
EIT registration required; PE license preferred
1 to 4 years of experience in civil engineering, hydrology and hydraulic modeling, consulting and design for municipal or land development projects
Proficient communication skills (oral and written)
Bridge hydraulics engineering experience is a plus
Experience on TxDOT / Harris County projects a plus; understanding of state and municipal code strongly desired
Working knowledge of software programs and techniques, which should include:
HEC-2, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM/XPSWMM
ESRI Geographic Information Systems
Microsoft Office Suite
Willingness and availability to travel to other offices on occasion
Some site visits may be required
Candidates should have background and/or experience with engineering analysis and design of various project types including a combination of
Stormwater management and infrastructure
Stormwater hydrology and hydraulic modeling
Watershed assessment & planning
Urban flood risk and floodplain management
Flood protection and resilience
Low impact development/green infrastructure
Preparing project scope and fee proposals
Design of coastal engineering projects, including coastal structure
Construction principles, including survey, inspection, and engineering methods and materials, and surveying methods and techniques.
