Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Reliability Compliance Specialist II located at Doniphan Control Center in Doniphan. Position closes March 27, 2020.
This position will report to the NERC Compliance Manager.
The incumbent is responsible for the implementation and documentation of NPPD's Board approved Electric Reliability Compliance Program as described in the Essential Duties & Responsibilities section below. The incumbent will develop and maintain the necessary processes, procedures, controls, and systems to ensure that NPPD is compliant with NERC Reliability Standards and other reliability reporting requirements. Provide expertise in interpreting and guidance in implementing Reliability Standards to District Subject Matter Experts.
Education, Training and Experience
Bachelor's degree in business, science, education or a related field required, with experience as described below.
Eight years in an electric utility in an area to gain knowledge of the business processes and procedures (general knowledge of power plants, system operations, engineering, substation and transmission line maintenance). Incumbent should have a thorough understanding of reliability compliance processes and procedures of the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) and the Regional Entity. Experience in electric reliability compliance reporting and technical review is preferred. Experience with SAP is preferred.
Licenses and/or Certifications
Establish and maintain an acceptable NERC Security Background check.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Work with appropriate departments to implement and monitor the NPPD Electric Reliability Compliance Program. Ensure compliance to reliability standards through working closely with District Subject Matter Experts and others assigned reliability compliance responsibilities. Assist subject matter experts with interpreting and writing compliance documents. Complete an annual risk assessment of reliability requirements applicable to the District.
Coordinate with the appropriate NPPD departments the submittal of information and data to the Regional Entity, including self-reporting any violations of standards, self-certifications, NERC and/or Regional Entity audits, NPPD self-audits, investigations, and mitigation plan development. Maintain a document repository system for retention of evidentiary documentation pertaining to compliance monitoring by the Regional Entity.
Manage a tracking system to identify compliance requirements prior to implementation dates. Ensure subject matter experts are provided enough lead-time to respond appropriately. Work with the appropriate departments to maintain a document repository program, which is compatible with existing NPPD software programs that will serve to maintain all necessary records concerning reliability standards compliance.
Monitor proposed revisions in NERC and Regional Entity standards, both at the NERC and FERC levels, and coordinate submittal of comments and ballots with the responsible managers and persons assigned to those standards. Develop and facilitate implementation plans for new NERC Reliability Standard requirements with the appropriate NPPD personnel to ensure NPPD compliance prior to enforcement dates.

Salary Information: $8,455-$10,889 Monthly
Travel Required: Up to 25% (With frequent overnight stays, more than 3 per month, typically within state of Nebraska) Travel required may fluctuate by business need. This is an estimate and will be discussed further with candidates that receive an interview.
