The Design Engineer (ME) is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of new products and/or provide engineering support for existing products. Performs product design and works as a team member with R&E, Marketing, and Manufacturing for new products. Complies with project schedules and budgets
Performs design and evaluates options to meet specifications, cost, and schedule requirements. Performs and submits to peer audits to insure integrity of the product design and conformance to professional and departmental standards.
Assists in project definition, schedule, budget, and project justification. Helps evaluate and develop the resource requirements for the project. Makes presentations and participates in project reviews with Management, Marketing, Manufacturing, and others.
Directs and supervises support personnel as needed for generation of drawings, documentations, prototypes, models and design evaluation.
Responsible for managing the schedule and budget of the design task and insuring the performance of the design to be used in a product.
Advises and assists Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Sales to insure timely development of tooling, production techniques, manuals and literature for product introduction.
Develops expertise in current and emerging technologies and applies them to new products. Develops new ideas and inventions for use in products and insures protection of intellectual property through disclosures and patent applications
Formulates specifications for parts, processes and tests as needed for the product design and manufacture. Applies engineering problem solving techniques to improve manufacturability, product performance and to identify cost reductions.
Education: BS degree EE/ME/SW/CS/CE SW
Experience: 1 year in Engineering Design and Development
Skills: Candidate must have excellent communication skills and interact well with the overall Mechanical Engineering team. Problem solving skills are a must. Candidates with Project Management experience and presentation skills will be given preference. Specific skills and experience in addition to those listed above may be required for specific position.
