The INDUSTRIAL ENGINEER for Assembly & Distribution will design, develop, and implement methods and tools that will increase operational efficiency by eliminating or reducing wastes of time, money, materials, energy, and other resources. Identify and select appropriate engineering concepts to execute projects that satisfy internal and external client requirements. Will serve as a project manager, key change agent, and/or resource to help drive a high-performance process focused organization within the Salem Manufacturing, Assembly and Distribution Centre.
Leads development and implementation of solutions that focus on operational efficiency. This includes review and study of existing processes, equipment, facilities, and systems to improve productivity, increase service and quality, and reduce costs.
Conducts necessary time studies for material, people, and information flow for optimization. Identify and recommend alternative solutions for the operation, to include any/all processes and/or systems to ensure capital is optimized and cost is reduced. Design and development of new systems or processes to ensure safety, service, and cost requirements are met. Using both a hands-on and analytical approach to problem solving. Will be required to develop labor standards for distribution and manufacturing operations.
Oversee aspects of the organization's process and system improvement efforts, to include effectiveness of policies, procedures, and work instructions at all levels in an effort that will meet or exceed internal and external customers' requirements. Collect, organize, monitor and distribute information related to systems and process improvement functions, training and coaching employees, and facilitating change throughout the organization. Assists in applying engineering principles to peer group.
Evaluates organizational and customer trends to forecasts future space requirements. Considers supply chain initiatives, short-term and long-term capital projects, and operational key performance indicators to identify opportunities, conduct economic analysis, and submit and present recommendations to senior management.
Manages assigned projects that could span across factories, obtains resources, sets clear project definition and objectives, and obtains results in a timely manner.

SKILLS & COMPENTENCIES
EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Science, and/or Technology. (BSIE) Industrial Engineering is highly preferred. MS in IE/IE&M/IE&OR, MBA or other Master's degree desired.
EXPERIENCE: 2 to 5 years preferred working professional in engineering, process or project management, or continuous improvement environment. Strong knowledge in light manufacturing & assembly, distribution, logistics, warehouse management, etc, is required.
SPECIFIC TRAINING: Strong PC skills required; especially with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access). CAD, MINITAB, VISIO, or similar is desired. Prefer formal training and project leadership in the IE field, which may also include Six Sigma, Lean Warehousing, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Continuous Improvement, or equivalent. Minimum 2 to 3 years experience in the development of manufacturing/assembly and distribution labor standards either through time studies or pre-determined time standards. Strong financial and quantitative analysis highly preferred.
CERTIFICATION: Prefer formal certifications related to field of expertise.
PROBLEM SOLVING: 2 to 3 years experience in project management or structured problem-solving methodologies with proven results.
