Building Engineer Job Description: This position reports to the Chief Engineer. This position is for Tues through Saturday 3:00 PM- 11:30 PM
Position provides maintenance support for the Cleveland datacenter and campus. Operates and maintains all mechanical and electrical systems in the Cleveland facility.
Operate and maintain chillers, chiller systems, Liebert or Emerson computer room air handlers, air handlers, fan coil units, and automated building systems.
Perform preventive maintenance on all equipment including, but not limited to: refrigeration, HVAC, electrical, emergency backup systems and other utility building systems.
Monitor operation of, adjusts and maintains refrigeration, chilled water and air conditioning equipment; ventilating and hot water heaters, pumps, valves, piping and filters, as well as all other mechanical and electrical equipment.
Record equipment performance readings and adjust where necessary to assure proper operation of equipment.
Ability to analyze the operation of various systems, determine the root cause of problems and malfunctions and take corrective action as required.
Oversee and inspect the work performed by outside contractors.
Assist in all building needs; including fire & life safety, electrical, security and plumbing system maintenance.
Respond quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.
Estimate time and materials needed to complete repairs.
Complies with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and company directives related to building operations and work safety.
Technical Skills Required:
2-5 years of electrical and mechanical experience working in high-availability (data centers, manufacturing, hospital) environments. Data center experience preferred.
Experience with and principal working knowledge of UPS, standby generators, power distribution, large HVAC systems and automated building controls setup and troubleshooting
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, use of common test equipment and the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisor.
Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding.
Uses desktop computers for work order system, email, ESS and training. Basic skills with Microsoft Office Outlook, Excel and Word.
High school diploma, Technical degree preferred.
Requires a CFC refrigeration license or willing to obtain.
Physical requirements include stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders and ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
Able to read complex building drawings and schematics.

General knowledge of carpentry a plus
A demonstrated history of reliability and punctuality is a must.
