As a Project Engineer, in Moog’s Aircraft Group (AG), Commercial Sector, you are responsible for development of complex electrohydraulic and electromechanical components and systems that will become new products of Moog, Inc. You will plan and conduct efforts requiring independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation / modification of standard and nonstandard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. The Project Engineer independently devises new approaches for the problems encountered and plans / coordinates the work of others.
The Project Engineer is a primary motivator and contributor to the analysis, conceptual design, development, and testing of complex control hardware used on commercial aerospace vehicles and equipment. Moog products are generally unique for each customer and therefore may require special, tailored designs, even though adaptation of existing designs always should be considered where appropriate. You will operate as part of a design/development team, which includes other department engineers. Primary concerns are system or component performance and integration, both being achieved within budget and prescribed schedules. The incumbent will coordinate the work of drafters, technicians, designers, analysts, manufacturing engineers and others who assist in specific assignments.
Here’s what you’ll work on:
Consult with the customer to establish the problem statement, conceive of potential hardware solutions (often through extensive trade studies) and assist in creating a successful technical proposal. This phase is critical in that it establishes the basis for future design and contract negotiations.
Guide the evolution of the conceptual design, and serve as focal point for customer communications.
Responsible for technical project planning and development testing.
Initiate / lead the analysis tasks necessary to ensure specification performance compliance. Tasks could include: computer dynamic modeling, error analysis, transient failure behavior analysis, and failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA).
Responsible for managing engineering project budgets and schedules through close coordination with the program manager.
Organize and make presentations to customers where required.
Here are the skills you will bring with you:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, required, with a minimum of six (6) years of achieved experience in design, analysis and development of complex electrohydraulic and electromechanical mechanisms; or a Master of Science Degree in Engineering, preferred, with a minimum of three (3) years of same experiences
Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, energetic and self-starter
Outstanding communication skills - both written and verbal
Demonstrated ability to communicate well with all levels of the organization and experience in working with external constituencies
Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and commitments
Ability to travel 10-20%
