The Transportation Designer will assist our Civil/Roadway Team with civil/roadway design and analysis tasks while functioning as an individual engineer contributor on projects. As a member of the Roadway group, this position will independently perform well-defined and increasingly complex civil/roadway design and project support services for transportation, structural, and civil engineering projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

In collaboration with more experienced engineers and project managers:

Perform civil/roadway engineering related calculations, analysis, and design tasks
Write technical specifications, reports, and other correspondence to a variety of audiences
Coordinate report production with management and administrative staff
Conform with OBEC standards and best practices
Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams
Perform independent checking of the design work of other team members
Develop in-depth proficiency with civil/roadway analysis, design and CAD software.
Interact with clients and subconsultants; develop client interaction skills, and attend meetings
Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements/Minimum Qualifications

This position requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering (civil) from an accredited university.

Engineer in Training certification required and progress towards obtaining professional (civil) registration required

Previous experience/skills:

Entry-level professional experience that includes relevant, transferable design, field engineering, and/or project experience as a junior designer or engineering intern is preferred. (applicants with less than four (4) years' professional experience must submit a copy of their college transcript, required)
Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites (Outlook, Word, Excel), required
Basic-level CAD experience using AutoCAD and/or Microstation, preferred
Ability to perform moderately complex engineering calculations, and comprehensive understanding of roadway geometry, alignments, and earthwork calculations, required
Exceptional technical and communication skills, required
