Outside Plant Engineer

What you’ll be doing...

You will be responsible for the field survey and Engineering design function for Hicap & Fiber to the Cell Networks. Responsibilities include surveying customer locations, meeting with vendors and other carriers related to facility design. This includes the identification of Outside Plant Fiber Optic Network elements in proximity to the customer demarcation point and determining the best method of delivery to the customer’s location. This role will require coordination with a variety of teams and will have direct customer contact in the commercial and residential markets. Work will be performed in both the outdoor and indoor environment primarily within customer premise locations.

Job responsibilities also include:
Planning and Designing additions, upgrades, repairs and network enhancements.
Selecting and pricing solutions based on the most effective, efficient, and timely design.
Coordination with internal departments and external customer focused communication with both residential and business end-users, building contractors, and property owners to implement solutions appropriately.
Creating winning outcomes for both Verizon and its customers.
What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:
Associate’s degree or two or more years of work experience.
Three or more years of relevant work experience.
Outside Plant Engineering, Construction, or Installation experience.

Even better if you have:
A degree in engineering or relevant technical/science/mathematical field.
Outside Plant Engineering, Construction, or Installation experience.
Knowledge of Fiber to the Cell network design.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to make network design decisions based on Engineering Guidelines and current field conditions.
Strong communications skills possessing the ability to effectively interact with both highly technical and non-technical customers alike with the goal to provide an understanding of our service order process and recommended method of delivery.
Ability to quickly build relationships with a diverse range of people and explain complex technical issues in a way that everyone can understand.
Experience with windows-based programs and corporate database systems.
Experience with CAD, and MS Excel/MS Access.
Knowledge of VZ OSP Systems; CoFEE, UUI, CCP, Vbuild, Tirks.
