Currently we are looking for a Laser Applications Cell Lead to join our team. You will have the unique opportunity to explore new paradigm-changing technologies that have potential to shape future processes for rms. This person will develop solutions for laser ablation, marking, welding, engraving, and thin material cutting in medical device applications. This is an excellent opportunity for a Laser Applications expert to get involved in all phases of development from inception and design through development and testing to launch in manufacturing.
Create and implement processes for 5 axis FEMTO LASER
Application development, process development and optimization, technical support for transitioning process to manufacturing
Supervise the process validation portion of new program prove outs.
Communicate effectively with the manufacturing engineers, operations managers, and sales for tolerances achievable and provide input for quotations
Assist in the design of jigs, tools, fixtures and special equipment for laser ablation applications
Communicate and present results and challenges to management
Produce preliminary setup documentation, and corresponding prints suitable for CNC setup and production of all necessary work holding, fixtures and tooling
Maintain all electronic files associated with production of a new or existing part, (CAM source files, verification fillies, drawings and engineering files)
Continuous and efficient production, coordinating employees, equipment, and materials/supplies
Communication of production issues, schedule and priorities within and between teams
Provide employees with goals, performance initiatives and areas of accountability
Hire employees, manage work hours, approve vacation requests, conduct performance reviews, discipline employees, provide compensation changes
Ensure compliance to schedules, policies and procedures
Employee retention to include training and development of employees
Experience with femtosecond and picosecond short pulse laser physics and characterization, and materials processing
Experience with various dimensional and in-process inspection of parts and/or assemblies in accordance with the requirements stated on drawings or work instructions using specific vision systems or gauges
Assist Technicians or Machine Operators with parameter adjustments and ablation parameter/process development
Strong experience with a variety of laser ablation, marking, and welding equipment and techniques.
Need to be self-driven and highly results oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Demonstrated problem solving, interpersonal, troubleshooting, decision making, customer relations, and analytical skills
Must be able to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, specifications & illustrations
Manipulate CAD/CAM files and models of multiple formats
C++/C# experience a plus but not required
1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
Previous lead or supervisor experience a plus
High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
