Currently we are looking for a Laser Applications Technician to join our team. You will have the unique opportunity to explore new paradigm-changing technologies that have potential to shape future processes for rms. The Laser Applications Technician will develop solutions for laser ablation, marking, welding, engraving, and thin material cutting in medical device applications. This is an excellent opportunity for a Laser Applications expert to get involved in all phases of development from inception and design through development and testing to launch in manufacturing.

Responsibilities:
Create and implement processes for 5 axis FEMTO LASER using GibbsCAM software and M and G code programming.
Assist with feasibility testing "fitness for the application".
Usage of motion control systems such as robots, multi axis systems, and video systems.
Application development, process development and optimization, technical support for transitioning process to manufacturing, and review with customers.
Supervise the process validation portion of new program prove outs.
Communicate effectively with the manufacturing engineers, operations managers, and sales for tolerances achievable and provide input for quotations.
Assist in the design of jigs, tools, fixtures and special equipment for laser ablation applications.
Communicate and present results and challenges to management and customers.
Document development activities, write reports, deliver design reviews and project briefings.
Produce preliminary setup documentation, and corresponding prints suitable for CNC setup and production of all necessary work holding, fixtures and tooling.
Maintain all electronic files associated with production of a new or existing part, CAM source files, verification fillies, drawings and engineering files.

Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years' Applications Engineering or Technician experience in the laser industry; experience in the laser machining in the medical device market a plus.
BS in Physics, Optics, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred but not required.
Significant experience with femtosecond and picosecond short pulse laser physics and characterization, and materials processing.
Working knowledge of drawings with an intermediate ability to interpret nomenclature and dimensions.
Performs various dimensional and in-process inspection of parts and/or assemblies in accordance with the requirements stated on drawings or work instructions using specific vision systems or gauges.
Assist Technicians or Machine Operators with parameter adjustments and ablation parameter/process development.
Strong experience with a variety of laser ablation, marking, and welding equipment and techniques.
Need to be self-driven and highly results oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Demonstrated problem solving, interpersonal, troubleshooting, decision making, customer relations, and analytical skills.
Must be able to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, specifications & illustrations.
Manipulate CAD/CAM files and models of multiple formats.
Experience with GibbsCAM a plus but not required.
Strong trigonometry and math background.
High School diploma or equivalent GED
