The Director of Information Technology is responsible for strategic, proactive leadership of the IT team and resources of the Company, including information security, systems advancement and innovation and information technology support of all Company locations.
This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and interfaces continually with employees across the Company, as well as outside vendors and suppliers.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Provide leadership and direction to IT staff members including Network Administrator, Systems Administrator and Software Developer Analyst.
Proactively recruit and develop staff members.
LAN/WAN (Local & Wide Area Network)
Serve as liaison to all computer consultants and vendors.
Approve selection and purchase of computer hardware, software & peripherals.
Direct development and maintenance of the Company’s daily and monthly backup of systems.
Provide leadership in implementing and maintaining Company virus and spyware protection.
Internet and Online Presence
Supervise and approve the maintenance and selection of the Company’s internet web site material, include web development vendor.
Maintain Company domain name and oversee online website portals for customer and employee use.
Provide communication of Information Technology policies and procedures, as well as IT related announcements to employees and leadership.
Work seamlessly with Operations and Operations Electronics & Instrumentation team.
Lead and direct IT Steering Committee to ensure communication and prioritization of resources to project needs.
Serve as primary liaison to all communication consultants and vendors.
Approve monthly invoices and service contracts.
Maintain and manage mobile telephone system, PBX systems, service providers, Company invoices, and policy and procedures for all locations.
Programming and Development
Maintain a current understanding of Visual Basic and other programming technology.
Develop or assign development of Visual Basic and other applications for Company use.
Ensure maintenance and up-to-date status current Visual Basic and other applications.
Provide proactive enhancements to proprietary in-house programs including Order Weigh, HRIS, User Management and EIS Systems.
Office, Computer and Phone Equipment
Supervise the maintenance of equipment including service contracts.
Routinely review, research and make recommendations regarding status of office equipment.
Supervise and approve all installation and maintenance aspects of company software including Windows, Microsoft, Great Plains and proprietary systems.
Schedule and coordinate routine updates
Serve as liaison to MBS Partner.
Maintain security and access.
Schedule and coordinate routine updates.
Maintain program source code for Order Weigh, EIS and Price Matrix.
Serve as liaison to company programming partner.
Troubleshoot daily issues and integration.
Serve as liaison to company programming partners.
Identify areas and procedures within the Company to improve productivity and cost efficiency.
Develop and implement strategies to accommodate new Company projects or procedures.
Oversee and direct IT team in training of employees.
Provide ongoing training opportunities for IT staff.
Attend training classes and sessions as necessary to stay in tune with current technology trends and advancements.
Oversee inventory of all technology related equipment.
Maintain inventory of user passwords relative to information system access.
Maintain and update Company Disaster Recovery Plan for IT
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Information Technology, Accounting Information Systems or related fields.
Proven track record of employee development and engagement.
Solid work experience at IT Manager or Director level.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
Proficient Software Developer Analyst experience in Visual Basic, C# and related skills.
Prior experience in construction, asphalt or chemical industries is a plus.
Ability to walk, stoop, bend, reach, stand or sit for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. as needed.
Ability to work indoors or out in a variety of work conditions.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Possession of a TWIC card or ability to obtain one is a plus.
Must be willing and able to travel to company locations, meetings, conferences, etc.; travel estimate is 20%.
