What you will do:
This position will lead or support the selection, price negotiation, design, construction and timing for all new injection molding tooling for battery components. Department annual spend on Injection molding tools is from $2,000,000 to $10,000,000 for up to 40 tools/year. To fulfill the job requirements this person directs and coordinates activities of internal and external sources engaged in design, building, process development, modifying and repairing injection mold tooling. Manages multiple programs with multiple tools per program at one time. Set's and communicates timing and priorities. Directs tooling design specifications and implementation. Develops tooling costs and timing for new programs. Understands each step involved with injection mold manufacturing from quoting to tryout process. Locates and develops new supplier's that have cost and technology benefits. This position is a critical role within BCD based on required knowledge, technical skill and ability to drive innovation.
How you will do it:
Manages and/or leads internal and external tooling technical team including: Process Engineers, Shop Forman, Mold flow engineers feasibility engineers, Mold Catia designers, NC Modelers, Journeyman and Apprentice Mold Makers.
Responsible for injection mold building related continuous improvement (.e.g. material, methods, new equipment, latest trends.
Maintain the Annual Operational Plan and report monthly on financial results
Effectively develop personnel in technical execution, planning, and decision making which can impact the business financials.
Develops & drives tooling innovation that improves BCD cost effectiveness, quality and capability.
What we look for:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree. Candidates with Federal Journeyman degree in Injection mold building and repair will be considered.
5+ years' experience with injection molding, tooling and tool engineering.
Hands on experience with IM machines, robotics, and auxiliary equipment.
Experience in mold construction preferred
CAD Design focused on mold design
Understand injection molding processing, including scientific molding concepts
Proven leadership skills
