A large military aerospace contractor is currently seeking an Stress Engineer with a background in flight controls to work with a team to support product design, mentoring to other Engineers and participation in process improvements, strategic planning and presentations.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Proficient in structural analysis of aerospace system and components particularly metallic pressurized structures.
This includes linear and nonlinear static analysis, stability analysis, Sine and random vibration analysis, shock and impact analysis and structural Fatigue analysis.
Knowledge of structural materials specifications, codes and their properties to understand how the different materials support loads and resist performance degradation.
Fluency in computer-aided finite element analysis specifically ANSYS
Linear and nonlinear structural analysis of assemblies as well as dynamic analysis in both time and frequency domain.
Plans, schedules, and coordinates detailed analysis phases of a project. Lead analysis of moderate to complex components and systems, involving multiple analysis disciplines.
May carry out complex or novel research assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures.
Formalize methods of analysis. Participates in the establishment of design and analysis standards. Mentors level 1, 2 and 3 Analysts.
Interacts with internal departments and customers to proactively identify and mitigate design risks associated with their analysis discipline and prioritize impact on overall business needs.
Creates analysis models to support robust and reliable designs. Validate model results against test data, identify any significant differences and source. Develop standard modeling methods to close any significant gaps.
Writes reports and gives presentations to customers and internal management during design reviews. Reviews analysis reports written by others.
Supports development and qualification tests with test correlation and validation analysis.
Required Software: ANSYS MS Office
10-15 years experience in structural analysis of aerospace system and components particularly metallic pressurized structures.
10-15 years experience in linear and nonlinear static analysis, stability analysis
Knowledge of structural materials specifications, codes and their properties to understand how the different materials support loads and resist performance degradation..
Bachelor's degree in an Engineering or technical science field or International equivalent required, advanced degree preferred.
Position: Direct Hire
Travel: 20% domestic and international required
