RMC is seeking a Senior Firewall Engineer responsible for performing support for data networks, with an emphasis on administration, provisioning, and support of firewall rules and infrastructure on Cisco ASA firewalls. Palo Alto and VMWare NSX-T is also present in the environment. The senior firewall engineer will provide technical knowledge on tasks or technology assignments and lead communication and collaboration with the technical leadership team.
Responsibilities:
1. Administers production firewall support requests for project and operational needs.
2. Provides troubleshooting support to application/development teams for the firewalls in our environment.
3. Leads efforts to analyze, troubleshoot and resolve network incidents
4. Responsible for operations of data communication systems, including LANs and/or WANs
5. Performs activities related to Network Performance, Lifecycle, Reliability and Problem Management
6. Supports/troubleshoots network problems
7. Researches and evaluates emerging network and communication technology
The successful candidate will possess:
1. Working knowledge of the planning, design, and troubleshooting of network systems.
2. Direct firewall experience including at least 5 years of recent Cisco ASA experience
3. Working experience with Cisco networks, ASA firewall configuration, Splunk
4. Working experience with Palo Alto firewalls preferred
5. Working knowledge of ITIL framework required
6. Working knowledge of industry trends and products.
7. Working knowledge of SSL certs.
8. Solid understanding of application layer packet headers
9. Solid understanding of DNS structure and architecture
Requirements:
1. BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Information Security, Data Science, Analytics, Physics, Math, or other Computer Science related field
2. Ten (10) years of relevant experience
3. Experience with implementing firewall rules in Palo Alto Firewalls
4. Experience with security/compliance monitoring tools and reporting
5. Experience with monitoring or data collection/analysis tools
6. Currently possess DOD 8570, IAT Level II Security+ ce certification or equivalent
7. Currently possess a secret security clearance
