CobbFendley is a multi-discipline firm founded in 1980 in Houston, Texas, providing engineering and surveying services. The Municipal Department is seeking an engineering graduate to provide project engineering support to the Austin office. The Project Engineer would be involved with designing water distribution systems and facilities, wastewater collection systems and facilities, roadway/drainage projects, master planning, modeling, and other projects typical of a municipal engineering practice. The Project Engineer must have experience working with plan and profile construction drawings associated with municipal infrastructure improvement projects.

The successful candidate’s most important qualifications include:
Bachelor of Science in a relevant Engineering field from an ABET accredited university;
E.I.T. certificate and plans to pursue Professional Licensure
1-3 years of progress municipal civil engineering design experience
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D 2012 or later
Microstation/Geopak experience a plus
Experience producing construction plan sets, preparing specifications, and cost estimating;
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Motivated to learn in a dynamic environment with short deadlines
Experience in Austin is a plus.

Essential Functions:
Apply technical expertise and project leadership experience to lead project teams on conventional and unconventional projects.
Supporting CobbFendley Project Managers and Engineers with engineering design tasks for various projects.
Representing CobbFendley at client meetings and performing client coordination.
Training to meet company safety standards.
Work in a safe and efficient manner at all times.

Physical Requirements:
Sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time.
Mobility within the office including movement between floors and workstations.
Repeated motions (i.e.-typing, reaching, bending, lifting and carrying).
Communication with other employees and clients.

Environmental Factors:
Most work is performed in a professional office environment. Some trips to client offices and job sites for observations may be required.
Job site observation factors could include: walking and climbing on uneven surfaces, exposure to outdoor environments and extreme weather (heat and freezing temperatures), noise exposure, driving for extended periods of time, exposure to allergens (i.e. pollen, dust, cedar, sumac, poison ivy, etc.), exposure to construction and traffic work zones, possible hand and power tool use, and extended periods of Personal Protective Equipment use.
Extended use of electronic devices (i.e.-computers, printers, copiers, scanners, plotters and telephones).
Use of cutting tools and equipment (plotting equipment, rotary paper cutter, etc.).

Expected hours of work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm.

The engineer will work both independently and with a team on multiple projects across Central Texas. This position reports to the Austin Municipal Manager. This position has opportunity for growth. Minimum travel may be required. All offers of employment are contingent upon the prospective employee passing a background/drug screen, which will include the candidate’s driving record.
