Position Title: Test Technician - Battery Packs
Reports To: Battery Validation and Compliance Manager
Status: Full-time position; Limited travel (~20%) may be expected
Location: Midland, MI
The Test Technician is responsible for the day-to-day operation, monitoring, and maintenance of battery pack test equipment for applications such as HEV, PHEV, and EV and will require an understanding of testing rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. The Test Technician supports battery pack post-test analyses including teardowns, measurements, and data logging for reports. The Test Technician works with Test Engineers as well as personnel across the organization depending on the nature of the battery tests. The role also interacts with equipment vendors in the troubleshooting and repair of equipment. The Test Technician also actively and constructively participates on improvement teams and in problem solving.
Operate battery test equipment and prepare data in support of test reports.
Create and write test scripts for computer controlled automation of tests.
Maintain the lab facilities; Troubleshoot tests and equipment as needed.
Make, repair, and reconfigure test leads and connectors.
Perform equipment calibration and maintenance.
Setup and operate data acquisition.
Setup, assemble, operate custom test configurations.
Follow standard operating procedures. Assist with the development and documentation of standard operating procedures and safety procedures for testing cells and batteries.
Support other departments and functions as needed.
Technical Associates degree, electrical is preferred.
3+ years experience testing cell or batteries.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair automated test equipment.
Demonstrates strong teamwork skills.
Proficient in the application and use of electrical and electronic lab test equipment.
Electrical and mechanical aptitude and abilities.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve test issues.
Able to read, write, and understand work instructions and documentation.
Strong work ethic, highly accountable, and able to take ownership of lab functions.
Able to work in cell and battery testing environment and lift up to 50 lbs.
Knowledge of and experience with testing EV, HEV, PHEV and other batteries.
