Transform initial rough product design, verbal descriptions, sketches and drawings using computer aided design into working documents. Contribute in engineering & design. Support the New Product Development Department; Product Managers, Engineers, Project Managers, FRP Tooling Shop, Boat Rigging/Test shop and Plant Engineering in the development of marine product. Rely on personal engineering aptitude, instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Use state of the art computer assisted design and manufacturing methodology. Perform 3D CAD modeling, including complex surface development, to define and execute leading edge boat designs. Develop CAD documentation compatible with tooling and manufacturing fabrication procedures. Work with department shop and outside manufacturing personnel to plan and implement the development and manufacture of product. Make complete CAD documentation. Perform within, and in conformance to, the company CATIA/ENOVIA product data management system. Operate geometric data acquisition devices, laser scanners, probes, etc. to reverse engineer, perform Q.C. Verify patterns, molds and parts to design tolerances.
Experience and knowledge of CATIAV5 3D CAD software a must, ENOVIA SMARTEAM a plus.
Create parametric surface models of new products and new product families in CATIA V5 GSD workbench that are adaptable to change as design evolves
Create conceptual sub-division surface models in CATIA V5 IMA workbench
Employ Data Reuse techniques to help maximize efficiency and quality of throughput
Manage time effectively in order to support multiple projects concurrently
Adhere to company 3D modeling best practices
Help develop and introduce new product designs in a timely manner, collaborating with a team of tooling technicians, designers and engineers to troubleshoot problems, and ultimately produce a newly designed product.
Make complete documentation of NPD designs using CATIA CAD and Enovia Product Data Management collaborative PLM software.
Participate in design for manufacturability to achieve and improve best efficiency and quality.

Supplemental Job Functions: Learn, apply and verify conformance to Federal, ABYC, and NMMA Standards compliance for marine manufacture as applicable throughout the product development cycle.
Strong understanding of CATIA V5 Generative Shape Design (GSD) and Part Design
Experience with CATIA V5 Imagine and Shape (IMA).
Understanding of manufacturing requirements, and how they are applied to component designs.
An eye for aesthetics, and an ability to translate 2D sketches into 3D CAD surface models that accurately capture industrial design intent.
