What You'll Do
Seeking motivated Undergraduate Student in B.S Industrial or Mechanical Engineering interested in an internship/co-op which will provide the opportunity to participate in the analysis, evaluation and implementation of process improvement solutions. This internship will provide the chance to work with senior engineers on a variety of different business and manufacturing systems for our Greensboro NC operations. Applicants will have the opportunity to hone their skills, in addition to learning about Production Control Analysis, root cause and participating in Time reduction and Lean and 5s principles development process.
The position is a project-based temporary part-time position. Generally the position will last three months or less. The intern will support engineering efforts and gain familiarity with Engineering documentation processes and standards. This opportunity is perfect for the Engineering major interested in gaining on the job experience. Positions are available for 2019 (Spring 2019; Spring/Summer 2019; Summer/Fall 2019 or Fall 2019) Please note no Summer only available - must be able to intern with a full semester.
The program offers hands-on learning experiences in a manufacturing environment. Interns are able to build on skill sets such as teamwork, leadership, quality commitment, and business acumen. Interns are expected to assume significant responsibility, supporting project work, leading to rapid personal growth and development of new skills.
Assist Sr. Engineers with execution of tasks and assignments.
Collect, analyze and format data to provide insight into manufacturing equipment operational performance. Make recommendations for improvement or corrective actions as requested.
Actively pursues continuous improvement and ease of doing business to meet or exceed customer needs and to further overall company goals and objectives.
Manages small projects as assigned.
What We're Looking For
Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job, will be considered.
Sophomore, Junior or Senior Standing
Minimum GPA 2.75
Degree/Major(s) preferred: B.S. Industrial & Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering
2020 semesters available (no summer only)
Proficient with Microsoft office
Manufacturing experience preferred
Willingness to work hands-on in production environment
Able to collect and document manufacturing process data (timestudies & work sampling)
Knowledge of AutoCAD and Solidworks desired
Work is performed indoors in a climate controlled modern factory space. Ambient working temperature may range from 55 F - 90 F, depending on season. Work area is clean and free from wet, slippery conditions. Employee required to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection and gloves.
