Looking for an experienced Java, C++, C software engineer to join our open source team. We are contributing to numerous open source projects such as Apache Cassandra, Apache Lucene, RocksDB, Redis, etc. An ideal candidate will have experience working in the open source space and have an understanding how to navigate through the contribution process.
Software Engineers conduct or participate in multidisciplinary research and collaborate with design, layout and/or hardware engineers in the design, development, and utilization of productivity enhancement layout tools and design rule checkers, electronic data processing systems software. Determines computer user needs, advises hardware designers on machine characteristics that affect software systems such as storage capacity, processing speed, and input/output requirements, designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Responds to customer/client requests or events as they occur. Develops solutions to problems utilizing formal education, judgement and formal software process.
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your schoolwork classes research and or relevant previous job and or internship experiences
Bachelor's with 3 or more years of experience in or Masters with 2+ years of experience in Computer Science or computer engineering or electrical engineering or related technical discipline.
Advanced Java C or C++ programming skills
Working understanding of software and hardware interactions
Basic hardware architecture knowledge
Established and active contributor to an open source project
Prior working knowledge of Apache Lucene, Kafka, Cassandra, Redis, RocksDB, or other popular open source project
