This role is responsible for determining how to create or improve a process that would test a product in manufacturing or related area, to guarantee that the product will meet the customer specification and be shipped out with good quality.
Bachelor’s Degree in electrical or computer engineering from an accredited college or university and 4+ years of relevant work experience preferred
Ability to read and comprehend documents in English such as work instructions and travelers
Must be able to effectively communicate with other departments including co-workers/supervisor
Must have advanced math (calculus, differential equations, etc.) and reasoning skills.
Must be detail oriented
Advanced computer skills (i.e. MS Office suite, Windows XP, Linux, etc)
Experience using test equipment (i.e. multimeter, oscilloscope, function generator, etc)
Basic Programming skills (VB and C preferred)
Knowledge of communication protocols preferred (i.e. RS-232, TCP/IP, etc)
Define what test process is needed based on product specifications
Automate test processes
Enforce test process flow
Maintain test documents to ensure updated procedures based on customer’s requirements
Recommend training and purchase of equipment upgrades or acquisitions
Coding to create programs for automated testing and data collection
Analyze if all test equipment requirements are feasible
Design and build test fixtures
Work with the customer to develop test procedures for new products
Meet production delivery requirements
Recruit, supervise, and evaluate department staff
Schedule department to ensure proper coverage
Identify and schedule training for department
Communicate (via meetings, etc.) with department to keep them abreast of changes, updates, etc.
Coordinate with HR with such matters as employee relations, hiring and time and attendance
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Job requires the ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to lift 25 pounds. Cannot be colorblind and must have adequate eyesight and hearing. Work environment includes machines and tools with sharp moving parts and hot surfaces; all employees should observe precaution while working with them. Employees may be exposed to moderate noise levels and processes that utilize solder, potting material, conformal coating and cleaning agents, which have various odors. Employees must always wear safety glasses and ESD smocks and ESD straps while working with certain types of products.
