Scientist – Adhesives and Sealants
As a member of the Silanes Global Technology team the successful candidate will join a team of chemists and engineers in the design and development of new and existing products for the Coatings, Adhesives & Sealants (CAS) market that will drive significant business growth for Momentive. The person will have a background in chemistry or material science with experience in the development and evaluation of new product technologies for the adhesive and sealant market.
Job Description:Specific Responsibilities include:
The successful candidate for this position will contribute to the development of new products for the Adhesives and Sealants market. As part of a team, the candidate will be responsible for the laboratory-scale formulation and testing of new and proprietary hybrid adhesives and sealants by utilizing their knowledge of adhesive and sealant formulations and application science. This will include chemical analysis and physical testing of raw materials, the preparation of fully formulated products containing these materials, plus evaluation of the performance of these formulated products under a variety of conditions according to specified protocols in order to assess their fit for a range of target applications. The candidate will also be responsible for preparing tables, charts, graphs written summaries and presentations of experimental results. The candidate must also maintain a safe and orderly laboratory work environment at all times.
Self-motivated individual with demonstrated track record of high academic achievement
Experience with formulating and testing adhesives and sealants
A working knowledge of standard personal computer applications (word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, etc.)
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects
Excellent oral and written communications skills in English
Masters Degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, or Formulation Science with 0-2 years experience in formulating adhesives and sealants
BS/BA Degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, or Formulation Science with 3-5 years experience in formulating adhesives and sealants
