Hycroft Mining Corporation is a US-based gold and silver mining company, which operates its wholly owned Hycroft open pit, gold and silver mine located an hour south west of Winnemucca, Nevada.
The Environmental Technician works as part of a team to perform a variety of technical work associated with the sampling and monitoring activities of reports and applications in support of compliance and permitting projects. Under the direction of the Environmental Manager and Senior Environmental Engineer, ensure that sampling, inspections, monitoring and data management are in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and conducted within company requirements and values. The Environmental Technician will also support, participate and assist in environmental regulatory compliance capacities including audits, inspections, and reporting. .
Some of the day-to-day responsibilities include:
Collect and manage safe, efficient, reliable and accurate required environmental sampling, monitoring and data for compliance with regulatory and company.
Participate in internal audits and inspections to ensure strict compliance with company and regulatory requirements. Provide input to Senior Environmental Engineer.
Analyze lab data, do quality-control checks, enter data in Monitor Pro 5 environmental database.
Must have good working relationship with all other departments and consultants hired to provide services to Hycroft.
Effectively communicate with site personnel to maximize informational exchanges and environmental compliance
Prepare quarterly water pollution control permit reports.
Provide assistance to the following programs (not limited to): Air quality, Radioactive material, waste management programs, reclamation and closure, Permitting, International Cyanide Code, Wildlife protection and management, spill prevention control and countermeasure planning.
Help conduct quarterly and annual environmental training in a classroom format and update as needed.
Support and assist the mine site with future permitting projects.
Ability to be on call and respond to site for environmental incidents if needed.
Performs other related functions as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years environmental experience, with Potable Water Certification and water sampling is a plus with one (1) - two (2) years experience working at an operating mine preferred.
Bachelor s degree in Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science preferred.
Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills required.
Strong organizational skills required.
Air Quality experience with Class II Operating Permit and Class I Mercury Operating Permit preferred.
Water sampling experience preferred.
Hazwoper, RCRA and DOT certifications for waste inspections and disposals preferred.
Expected to wear Personal Protective Equipment as needed in active mining areas.
