The Project Specialist supports the Water Sciences Team with the management of projects on the over 12 million gallons of water located at Epcot, Animal Kingdom, Aulani and Castaway Cay. This role is a professional position and requires coordination with Disney partners across many lines of work. The Project Specialist will support the planning, development, and implementation of projects through both Water Sciences and the Integrated Facilities Planning (IFP) program. This role requires the ability to develop intelligent solutions to complicated problems, manage and prioritize time wisely, and communicate clearly with all partners. It also requires knowledge of the Epcot Building Code, understanding of moving fluids, and the ability to provide field direction.
Self motivated individual that will provide responsible care to projects associated with Animals, Science, and Environment (ASE), with particular focus on Water Sciences efforts.
The position will need to make project related decisions, in partnership with peers and leaders, that will provide direction to other Disney partners such as Design and Engineering, Facility Asset Management, Engineering Services, Attractions, and other ASE Cast Members.
Generate Scopes of Work and Justifications for future projects. Then coordinate with Integrated Facilities Planning (IFP) for the development of the projects.
Coordinate with the Water Sciences team and the Animal Care Partners to develop schedules for construction efforts.
Perform trouble-shooting and problem solving tasks to determine the most cost effective and/or time effective solutions to projects.
Provide direction to engineers and contractors for project schedules and project progress.
Coordination skills and the ability to communicate clearly with vendors, contractors, and internal partners.
Familiarity with pumps and filtration of water.
Understand the methods for moving fluids
Understanding of project development and management: concept development, estimating and funding, design, bidding for construction, scheduling, budget tracking, and field management.
Previous experience with Engineering with preference to Mechanical Engineering.
Ability to read technical drawings and specifications.
Completed a 2 year Associate's degree in sciences or equivalent
Completed a 4 year Bachelor’s degree in sciences or equivalent
