How will you make an impact?

We are seeking a creative and motivated engineer to join our Sunnyvale Chemistry Product Development (R&D) team to assist in the development and sustain innovation in the Ion Chromatography industry. The successful candidate will plan, initiate, direct and execute the engineering activities of the R&D groups in the research and/or development of products, projects and programs. They will work with the department management and managers to develop and execute the department goals and objectives.

What will you do?

Working closely with suppliers/vendors, engineers and scientists of diverse backgrounds in support of new product development and NPI.
Concept, layout, detail design and fabrication/assembly of parts, components, fixtures, and assemblies using 3D/2D CAD software.
Integration, validation, and troubleshooting of various laboratory equipment (e.g. IC, GC, & HPLC chromatographs, MS detectors, processing equipment, and analytical instruments).
Administration and support of the Chromatography Data Systems (CDS) for R&D and manufacturing on an SQL and VM server enterprise.
Administration and support of chemical inventory database.
Department procurement/request of internal and external supplies and machined parts.
Monitoring of expenses and capital expenditures and annual planning of capital equipment.
Capital budget planning, justification, procurement, and install/qualifications of capital equipment
Interact closely with other internal departments (e.g. marketing, quality, operations and/or technical services) in support of new products and sustaining of existing products.
Work with cross-functional teams in Lean Projects/Kaizen (PPI) events.
Maintain a high level of expertise in various areas of specialize engineer functions, as required, to provide expert support to the scientific team.
How will you get here?


Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Process, or Industrial Engineering required.


1+ years of experience as an engineer in school or work related environment preferred.
Some engineering work experience (preferred in a chemical environment or industry) is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Knowledge in interpreting and understanding 3D models and 2D orthographic drawings in third angle projection format, geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T), and machine fabrication requirements.
Knowledge in maintaining machine tools and common machine shop equipment. Performing preventive maintenance and repair tasks of these tools.
Knowledge of the concepts and logistics of enterprises networks, file servers, and data storage.
Knowledge of simple script programming language (PERL, VBScript, etc.)
Ability to operate common shop equipment and tools, such as hand drills, saws, pin gauges, micrometers, saws, Dremel tools, etc. and electrical test equipment such as DMM.
Ability to verify conformance of dimensions, tolerances and surface finishes using various types of inspection equipment.
Ability to communicate effectively (verbal & written), work well with all team members and exhibit a positive attitude.
Possess good judgement and a keen attention to details.
Ability to prioritize and execute tasks effectively in a quick response, lean environment.
Be self-motivated adaptable and responsible.
Ability to comply with all safety practices, policies and procedures.
Ability to perform other job duties as required.
Ability to stand for long periods of time, walk, push and pull <50 lbs. Must have fine motor hand dexterity along with excellent sight and visual perception for reading gauges/dials/displays, detail drawings and precision measuring instruments and working with small parts.
Proficiency with a CAD system such as Solidworks (preferred), Creo (Pro/E), or AutoCAD.
SAP/Oracle experience a plus.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in team.
Familiarity with Quality Management Systems such ISO9001 standards a plus
Proficient with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
