The European headquarters of Ascend is located in Mont-Saint-Guibert, Belgium with representations in Belgium, Italy, Germany, The Netherlands and France; servicing the entire European region. India in addition.

The company is in growth mode and going through an exciting phase of its development, with various acquisitions in a near future and the overall upscaling of its European operations which today accounts of +/- 25% of Ascends global revenue. Ascend also recently acquired a manufacturing facility in the Netherlands (Tilburg) that includes about 80 employees.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities

The Human Resources Leader Europe is a senior HR leading position that will partner and collaborate with Regional and Functional leaders, in the US and Europe. The HR Leader will be responsible for all HR related topics in Europe and India.

The purpose of the role is to:
1.) Assess and grow the capabilities of regional leaders and their teams

2.) Develop and implement organisational and HR strategies

3.) Create a culture of trust, teamwork and high performance

The HR Leader Europe will be leading for the region and India:

HR Strategy, leadership and organisational guidance

Partnering with the regional leaders and defining HR goals alligned to the company’s business strategy.

People Excellence
Leadership coaching and development

Performance Management (through Talent and Rewards)

People development

Workforce and succession planning

Organisation Development & Change Management

Manage growth, size and organisational capabilities

Merger of future acquired organisations

Culture & Engagement

Ownership of HR Operations Management

HR operational excellence in support of external partners and of a HR Administrator under the direct supervision of the HR Leader Europe.

Talent Acquisition

Participating in candidate selection process, profile screening, assessments, offers and contracts. Managing contacts with external partners.

Training

Employee development plans, assess training needs, recommending changes, planning 360° review and personal coaching. Managing contacts with external partners.

Full employee cycle

Leading orientation and induction for new hires, Onboarding and exit legal and administrative formalities, conducting and analyzing exit interviews.

Personal continuous training

Maintaining HR professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional associations.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation and wage structure follow-up, classifying employees, benchmark follow-up.

Employee benefits programs. Managing contacts with external partners. (Car fleet, Group Insurance, retirement scheme and death plan, disability plan, Health care, Assistance, Accidents coverage).

Payroll & Staff administration

Ensuring compensation pay for 5 countries (BE, IT, DE, NL, FR). Managing contacts with external partners.

Legal

Ensuring all policies, procedures, and documentation are in compliance with national and European regulations.

Providing on-going coaching and support to line managers on labor regulations.

Supervise legal issues and interact with regional external lawyers and advisors as appropriate.

Recommendations and implementation in terms of protection and prevention at work.

HR Processes

Develop, implement, and enhance policies and procedures on a variety of workplace issues (disciplinary procedures, absence management, working conditions, equal opportunities, Benefits,… )

Liaise with HQs in order to ensure that international HR standards are reflected in the european and local organization.

HR Administration

Operational administration is managed by an Administrative Representative under the HR Leader’s supervision.

The HR Leader profile

Education and experience

Degree in Human Resources or other Business discipline. HR certification is a plus.

Over 10 years HR experience of which 5+ years’ experience in an HR Business Partner/Leader role.

Previous Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) experience is not compulsory but would be highly valued.

Strong leadership skills with ability to engage and influence others at all levels of the organization

Demonstrated ability to develop and align HR strategy with business initiatives

Independent thinker with strong decision-making skills

Results oriented with ability to organize, prioritize and implement projects on time

Demonstrated ability to translate and implement business and people strategies into measurable HR plans and actions

Broad working knowledge and demonstrated ability to stay abreast of business and cultural trends

Proactive and able to seek counsel and resolve problems early

Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English required)

Demonstrated ability to collaborate with all levels of the organization

Demonstrated ability to work with confidential and sensitive matters in a professional and discretionary manner

Openness to travel up to 30% (Europe and USA)
