Gunlocke, an industry leader in office furniture design and manufacturing, and a top brand in the HNI Corporation enterprise, is in search of a Business Process Improvement Engineer to join our team in Wayland, NY!
Some of the essential aspects of the position include:
The purpose of this position is to support the goals and vision of Wayland Operations by coordinating the Rapid Continuous Improvement activities throughout the manufacturing plant. Additionally, this position will support longer term strategic initiatives for the facility, making this a critical role in driving performance improvement. This is a key position in the organization and offers the possibility for upward mobility.
Day to day duties include:
Coordinate Rapid Continuous Improvement (RCI) events and activities.
Coordinate and conduct member development training in rapid continuous improvement/business process improvement tools and skills.
Support long term projects aligned with strategic initiatives
Coordinate a disciplined shop floor organization and cleanliness (6S) program. Drive daily continuous improvement activities by coordination with shop floor members
Coordinate activities for problem resolution, to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relationships.
Interface with maintenance and production staff for design requirements and integration into production.
Provides input for production processes, systems and engineering focus.
Work cooperatively with all other managers of the plant to constantly improve departmental and overall plant operations and achieve manufacturing goals.
What it takes:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required
Experience/Skills for entry level candidates:
2+ years experience with BPI or Kaizen
Experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment preferred.
Experience using Microsoft Office tools to analyze data and present recommendations
Ability to accurately interpret complex data and business information as required
Ability to analyze problems and create related solutions in a fast-paced environment
AutoCAD (or similar system) basic skill set and navigation
Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced, rapid-evolving environment
Must be able to write, speak and present information effectively with all levels of the organization
Experience/Skills for Senior level candidates:
5+ years experience with BPI or Kaizen
Demonstrated ability to facilitate change in cross functional teams
Demonstrated ability to clearly and concisely expresses professional opinions with supporting rationale to drive business decisions
Experience utilizing AutoCAD (or similar system) on 2-D facility layout
