WSP USA is currently seeking a Lead Traffic/ITS Engineer in our Charlotte, North Carolina office to join our thriving Regional Traffic Engineering practice! The successful candidate will have extensive experience in both public and private traffic/ITS engineering projects. Specifically: - Extensive ITS design experience with design-build delivery of ATMS, ITS, and toll facility projects. - Extensive experience in the design and operations of traffic signals, traffic signal optimization, and signal systems. - Extensive experience in the design and operation of IP based networks including network logic diagrams, protocols, and wireline and wireless communications. - Ability to proficiently design, manage and review Traffic/ITS plans. - Ability to oversee and direct project traffic/ITS engineering project tasks and monitor project progress for technical accuracy. - Ability to build and maintain good client relationships. May act as a representative at project meetings and coordination with project sponsors or clients. Possess good presentation and marketing skills. - Design of various projects using survey data or other design information; provide complete drawings of traffic signal installations, pavement markings, signage, and ITS; produce project cost estimates; and utilize Microstation V8i as the main design program. - Ability to work well with other related disciplines and coordinate design activities for timely completion and within resource budgets. - Willing to work in a team-oriented environment. - Experience and working knowledge of NCDOT Design Standards, NCDOT Standard Specifications, NCDOT Traffic Signal and ITS Design Manual, and the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). - Experience with ITS systems engineering management including requirements analysis, concept of operations, and ITS architecture. - Perform field reviews and investigation of the project sites, CCTV site surveys, signal inventories, and coordination with local and State highway agencies in obtaining as-built information. Other tasks may include wireline and wireless communications design and shop drawing reviews. Candidate must be capable of applying diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices, and independently making decisions on significant engineering problems or methods. A BS in Civil or Electrical Engineering
7+ years of progressive experience in both public and private traffic/ITS engineering projects
Current North Carolina P.E. registration or ability to obtain within 6 months.
Experienced in Microstation V8i or latest
International Municipal Signals Association – Traffic Signal Field Technician - Level II
Masters in Civil or Electrical Engineering is preferred.
Training or certification in IP Network.
Current experience with NCDOT projects.
