We are currently seeking candidates for future opportunities in our Saskatoon plant. The Robotics and Automation Programmer/Engineer’s role is to provide successful programming of robotics and automation equipment while improving manufacturing efficiency, cost, product quality, and worker safety.
Additional Responsibilities include:
Design and configure robotics and automation systems in order to provide: safe methods, optimal production capabilities, cost reduction opportunities, process control methods and plans, and manufacturing layouts.
Integrate robotics and automation with peripherals, such as welders, controllers, or other equipment.
Investigate mechanical failures or unexpected maintenance problems.
Analyze and evaluate robotic and automation systems or prototypes.
Install, calibrate, operate, or maintain robots.
Conduct research on robotic and automation technology to create new robotic systems or system capabilities.
Build, configure, and test robots.
Document robotic and automation application development, maintenance, or changes.
Provide technical support for robotic and automation systems.
Review or approve designs, calculations, or cost estimates.
Write algorithms or programming code for ad hoc robotic and automation applications.
Create back-ups of robot programs or parameters.
Process or interpret signals or sensor data.
Debug robotics and automation programs.
Conduct research into the feasibility, design, operation, or performance of robotic mechanisms, components, or systems, such as planetary rovers, multiple mobile robots, reconfigurable robots, or man-machine interactions.
Design automated robotic systems to increase production volume or precision in high-throughput operations, such as automated ribonucleic acid (RNA) analysis or sorting, moving, or stacking production materials.
Design robotic systems, such as automatic vehicle control, autonomous vehicles, advanced displays, advanced sensing, robotic platforms, computer vision, or telematics systems.
The qualified candidate will have:
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering in either Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent work experience.
The ideal candidate will have:
Knowledge of computer hardware, network technologies and equipment
Knowledge of basic electrical circuits
Software application experience utilizing Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications
Knowledge of PLC programming.
Visual Basic and Database Programming is a plus
Working knowledge of Studio 5000 programming would be an asset
Working knowledge of FactoryTalk View Studio: HMI Programming would be an asset.
Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems and perform complex system tests.
Knowledge and experience in the following would be an asset:
