Position Title: Software Application Integration Engineer - P02843

Job Description Summary
The Software Application and Field Engineer will support the customer’s integration of our Battery Management Systems into their unique applications. The SW Application Engineer will provide on-site expertise and debugging capabilities to our customers on-site. Investigate and root cause field issues in-house using HiL and other lab equipment. Gain system knowledge in validation and testing of Battery Management System software for electrified transportation and industrial applications. The Software Application and Field Engineer will support the team members with all phases of software development projects and initiatives.
Lead the investigation of application / integration issues in the field on-site and/or remotely.
Characterize customer variants by collecting data on customer applications as well as on the HiL and in high voltage lab environments and generate calibration sets from that data.
Support the Systems team with DFMEA and DRBFM work as part of new project activities.
Be responsible for leading the XALT Problem Management Process by performing investigations, executing 8Ds, and supporting SW changes required to rectify field issues in a timely manner.
Be responsible for SW variant management by tracking customer applications and building a library of SW configurations to support them.
Collaborate with the cell development team to create calibration sets for new cells.
Support company goals and initiatives related to industry standards for safety and quality (Ex. ISO26262, IEC61508, QS9003, and others)
Learn the XALT SW development process and workflow and strive to maintain those guidelines
B.S. in one of the following: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Controls Engineering.
Minimum 5 years of experience in electric vehicle programs and/or other e-assist technologies. Battery and/or electric machine integration experience strongly desired.
Working knowledge of network based communication protocols including CAN (J1939) and respective development tools.
Understanding of Battery Management Systems, and relationships between controllable attributes, and battery life and performance.
Excellent communications and interpersonal skills – position requires strong interaction in multi-functional team environment particularly in high-pressure situations (e.g., launch).
Strong English skills, both spoken and written.
Must be a self-starter who takes the initiative to find solutions to technical challenges.
Must demonstrate knowledge of and proficiency with creative problem solving methods.
Must have experience launching a major subsystem into production in relevant industry (Large battery or electromechanical subsystems is desired).
Travel approximately 20% of time. Inter-office travel between Midland and Pontiac office is expect for 1-2 days every other week.
Experience in testing complex electrical systems.
