This positing will be used to fill three vacancies at either the Engineer 1 or Engineer 2 Graduate level.
The position will implement Air Quality Permits Section Work Plan activities to ensure compliance with federal and state environmental regulations. The incumbent will manage air quality permit issuances for assigned facilities. This work includes development and coordination of permitting project schedules, determination of appropriate permit requirements, technical evaluation of proposals, drafting permits and associated documents, communication with permittees and interested parties, and development of presentations necessary for the successful processing of permit applications. The position will also provide technical review of engineering products associated with permits and enforcement cases to ensure compliance with applicable requirements.
Engineer 1 Graduate Candidate:Education:
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental Engineering, Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering or similar engineering field with an environmental emphasis from an accredited engineering college.
Engineer 2 Graduate Candidate:Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering or similiar engineering field from an accredited engineering college, plus 18 months of engineering experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to track detailed information in an organized manner;
Proficient knowledge of computer software data management tools;
Excellent communication skills including written communications;
Effective human relations skills to work with clientele, staff, and other partners;
Effective analytical and problem-solving skills for resolving technical matters;
Ability to bring projects to conclusion.
Ability to travel up to 10%.
Engineering coursework in air quality/air pollution.
Knowledge of principles and practices of air pollution control engineering.
Project management skills and experience.
Air quality permitting experience.
Ability to conduct site visits at industrial facilities.
Ability to lift up to 20 pounds routinely.
This position requires successful completion of the following:
A driver’s license is an essential function of this position. This requires possession of an unrestricted Class D Driver’s License. The job offer is contingent on confirmation of a valid driver’s license AND a satisfactory driver's license record check.
Requires a Class D driver's license: a single unit vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of less than 26,000 pounds. This is a basic driver's license. Operators may also tow vehicles/trailers as long as the gross combination weight does not exceed 26,000 pounds.
