The Nexteer Automotive Adjacent Markets Team is looking for a Systems Engineer with leadership skills and the desire to solve problems related to steering systems development. The candidate will be required to coordinate and collaborate work efforts across multiple teams for multiple customers (Polaris, Marine, Apple, Nuro, Club Car, etc.), ensuring that all customer needs/desires are properly interpreted, flowed down, and implemented per customer timing. The ideal candidate would enjoy working in a fast-paced cross-functional environment, and trouble-shooting complex challenges related to the mechanical/electrical/software interactions of a mechatronic system.
In this role the candidate will:
Work with Nexteer customers.
Own the integration of mechanical, electrical hardware, software, and controls of the Electronic Power Steering System into the vehicle.
Guide and support the development of EPS system requirements, system design, and related downstream requirements.
Lead technical discussions with the customer regarding requirements and implementations.
Support all hardware, software, and system level validation testing to establish performance criteria prior to vehicle integration.
Support manufacturing process definition and derive requirements needed to efficiently manufacture the EPS product for a program.
Development and verification of calibrations for EPS systems, including documenting work instructions.
Work with the cross-functional team on impact assessment of change requests and software anomalies.
Lead internal and external technical discussions on issues & resolution.
Demonstrated customer interface skills
At least 2 years work experience (internal and/or external to Nexteer).
Experience developing/interpreting Matlab/Simulink models.
Proficient in Microsoft office software (Excel, Word, PPT).
Proficient with system integration interface tools (eTool, CANape, CANalyzer, etc)
Experience with writing EPS systems requirements.
Excellent communication skills and a desire to work with people.
Excellent problem-solving techniques.
Enjoy driving and evaluating vehicles.
Good organization and documentation abilities.
Must be able to drive a vehicle and possess a valid driver license.
Must be able to make quick physical maneuvers while driving.

Customer interface experience
At least 2 years of systems integration and/or electrical application engineering experience.
Software programming experience using C, C#, Visual Basic, or similar.
Fundamental understanding of vehicle dynamics, mechanical systems, electronic systems, serial communications, and computer hardware and software.
Background in automotive engineering and chassis systems (steering, braking, suspension)
Knowledge of system synthesis, analysis and verification techniques.
Familiarity with CPI and other project management processes.
Required – Bachelors in Electrical/Software/Computer Engineering
