The Production Supervisor is responsible for the day to day operations and direct supervision of hourly employees and working leaders of a production department or section.
This position will serve Rheem’s Air Division, located in Ft. Smith, AR. This position supports our first shift, with standard work schedule of Monday through Friday, with overtime or weekend work as needed. The hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 6:30am-3:00pm (8 hour day), or 4:30am-3:00pm (10 hour day). This position is eligible for our Extended Work Week pay schedule, which pays for overtime after 16 hours+.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Supervise the activities of production employees of a particular department, line or section.
Responsible for the quantity and quality of work of the assigned group and coordinating work with other sections or departments for the purpose of efficient operation.
Responsible for planning the flow of production through the assigned section or department, and effecting improved methods and procedures for higher production efficiency.
Assist in the setting of fair and equitable standards on all operations.
Responsible for meeting all schedules established for the assigned section or department.
Responsible for the proper induction, instruction, and training of employees and maintaining an adequate and well-trained work force.
Interpret instructions, specifications, handbooks, blueprints, engineering drawings, and company policies to hourly employees.
Responsible for profits of section or department through the control of costs and proper maintenance of tools, machines, and other working equipment within the assigned group.
Responsible for conducting safety meetings for the purpose of training hourly employees in proper safety habits, adherence to rules of good housekeeping, and establishing and maintaining safe working conditions.
Inspire and maintain high employee morale through good employee-management relations and through knowledge of union contracts. Recognize and inform higher supervision of hourly employee capabilities.
Confer with employees for the purpose of gathering facts and settling individual complaints or problems before they become formal grievances.
Maintain discipline through prompt and impartial action and enforcement of company policies and union contracts.
May be required to represent Company to outside vendors and company representative.
WHAT YOU NEED
Five years’ experience in supervising hourly employees.
Excellent interpersonal/communication skills, teamwork, proven leadership abilities, and excellent problem solving skills.
Must possess superior planning, decision-making, use of staff service, and motivation skills.
Must possess good judgment, planning and analytical skills, with the ability to engage team members to support significant shop floor change.
Ability to organize and deliver effective training tools.
Ability to manage multiple projects.
Ability to interact and work in a factory floor environment.
Working knowledge of MS Office, to include Word and Excel.
HOW TO STAND OUT
Bachelor degree in Operations or related field
ERP system knowledge such as Oracle or SAP.
Experience in a unionized environment.
