Hypergiant’s Research and Development department is seeking an independent, perceptive, adaptable, highly organized, passionate, and creative Junior R&D Automation Engineer. An engineer that can think-design-make their ideas into reality and not be timid in the hands-on build phase of a project. Your hands will get dirty and I promise you will break and/or fail at something. The Hypergiant R&D Team consists of a variety of engineers, scientists, and designers that gives us an advantage over the competition, because we love what we do and how each member contributes based on their knowledge and expertise.
What you’ll do
Think so far outside the box that there is no box and if there was a box, we had already used the materials to create a time-machine to go back in time and save the trees that would have become the box in question. Yea, that’s how we roll.
Work within a high energy team environment, consisting of multiple disciplines and varying levels of experience.
Preform research to be leveraged for new and exciting projects.
Combine and build upon your knowledge of hardware development and integration into software and user experiences.
Involved in each phase of development, from ideation, thru beta, and into product development.
Bachelor of Science in one or more of the following: Software, CompSci, Electronics, Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical, or a related Engineering discipline.
Must have an engineering degree. A master is a plus, but not required
Solid understanding of sensor technology, microcontrollers, computer/networking hardware, and programming in current languages and code structure
Ability to troubleshoot designs and perform complex system tests
Proficient using AutoCAD
Experience designing and building projects with current MCUs, such as Arduino, RaspberryPI, NXP, and/or similar platforms, Industrial controller platforms are as a plus, such as Emerson DeltaV, Rockwell, ABB, or similar.
Creative thinking skills as it pertains to automation & sensors technology
Excellent and proven organizational skills in order to meet multiple deadlines and handle multiple tasks within a high-pressure work environment
Ability to communicate well to other members of the development team
Ability to work effectively as an individual contributor, as well as within a team environment
Strong technical writing and analytical skills
Strong research skills
An unquenchable thirst for learning and sharing knowledge
Electrical/Automation control systems design, optimization & configuration
PLC and HMI design, programming & implementation
Hydraulic, Pneumatic control system & equipment sensor integration experience, a plus
Familiar with industrial network technologies such as Foundation Fieldbus, CANbus, Profibus, etc.
Identify, address and resolve issues and problems as or before they occur
