The Project Engineer, Energy has overall responsibility to provide engineering support in the area of energy usage, efficient steam generation, condensate optimization and water utilization for the Mosinee Mill. This responsibility includes managing capital improvement projects, working with operations areas to identify continuous improvement opportunities, supporting facility efforts to secure an maintain energy reduction grants and state training grants for new technology as well as identifying equipment and system reliability improvement opportunity areas. This individual will also assist in supporting strategic planning for facility operations and assist with building plan for mill wide energy reduction.

Manage energy, steam utilization and water utilization improvement projects in all areas of the Mill.
Develop systems to monitor and mine operations data to identify trends and opportunities.
Develop reporting tools to inform key facility leaders on key measure performance.
Advise mill operations personnel regarding systems/requirements available to meet their needs while achieving reduction results in energy, steam and water.
Responds to departmental requests for changes in existing systems/equipment’s to modify/enhance the system/equipment to obtain desired results in a safe and cost effective manner.
Act as key liaison to partner with various governmental agencies to ensure compliance and gain access to grants and resource sharing opportunities.
Participate in the Week-End Duty rotation to provide support for facility operations during week ends and holidays. Provide support and back-up for the process/mechanical engineers in other areas.
Provides requested services while meeting safety codes, specifications and budgetary limitations. Ensures the new systems are compatible with existing systems and operate without causing an overload.
Support efforts of Maintenance to troubleshoot problems.
Manage key projects during mill outage and utilities outages.

Must follow AhlstromMunksjö’s manufacturing and hygiene processes, procedures and policies, as applicable, to the position’s areas of responsibility, in order to meet and maintain the safety, quality, and regulatory compliance requirements for each grade of paper.


Bachelors degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical or Paper Science Engineering with focus on Energy is required
3 to 5 years’ experience in a chemical, mechanical, electrical or paper science engineering role in an industrial operation or power generation operation
Experience in Utilities, Power or Steam Generation preferred or equivalent
Proven reliability improvement results with a history of continuous improvement
Strong project management skills required
Strong communication and leadership skills required
Pulp and paper mill experience, with demonstrated strength in machinery and processes, and process control applications
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
