With nearly 7,000 people in 100 offices across the U.S., we partner with our clients to help communities prosper. www.wsp.com/usa Principle Technical Specialist / Associate - Plumbing JOB SUMMARY: Independently performs engineering-related or other technical duties in support of a construction management, facilities/equipment maintenance, or engineering project. Performs duties in accordance with contract requirements under the direction of project management or senior staff. MAJOR DUTIES: Development of initial Pluming and Fire Protection system concepts. Design of Plumbing and Fire Protection systems. Calculation of preliminary water, gas, sanitary/sewer and storm loads for utility coordination. Develop project specifications. Survey and evaluation of existing conditions. Construction administration. Assist with Project Management. Attend client meetings. Maintains daily contact with client representatives or contractor’s representatives to discuss project activities. Analyzes contract standards, drawings and data collected. Makes recommendations to project manager/engineers regarding changes that may be required with contract requirements. Monitors project activities to ensure adherence to contract requirements. Uses independent judgment to perform a broad range of complex technical and administrative activities requiring in-depth knowledge in area of specialization. Directs and assigns specific tasks to subordinates. Evaluates performance of other lower-level technical specialists or inspection team. Recognizes technical problems and applies standard techniques and procedures to resolve same. Other duties as assigned. #ind2019
Significant credit towards a technical degree preferred and advanced technical training beyond a formal degree program.
A minimum of 20 years experience in plumbing specialties /building experience.
Strong working knowledge of building, plumbing, and fire codes.
Strong field knowledge and construction management experience.
