As a Quality Engineer at Viasat, you will provide Quality Assurance support for the products and systems at our Arizona division. These responsibilities of the position will include;
Participation in the development, review and deployment of Quality System processes and procedures.
Assessment of customer, military, and industry requirements documents for development of tailored Quality Plans for compliance.
Proactive participation in product development assuring quality is designed in and lessons learned are applied.
Assuring manufacturing processes have been assessed for capability and readiness and necessary controls, training and metrics are applied.
Performance of QA surveys and audits of present and proposed suppliers and subcontractors to ensure adequate QA systems are implemented and maintained.
Implementation of the controls, inspections and tests through part/material procurement and receipt and into product manufacturing and delivery assuring the quality of the product is achieved. This includes product and material qualification, part/material receiving inspection, and product/system production and delivery.
Identification, control and disposition of nonconformances including leadership of Material Review Board.
Drive failure analysis and root cause investigations assuring timely and effective corrective action, including failure analysis activities internally as well as with outside labs.
Collection, analysis and reporting of quality performance utilizing statistical and analytical tools and methods (e.g., Pareto Analysis, Histograms, Cause & Effect Diagrams, SPC, Cpk, etc.).
Tracking and Reporting of Quality performance / status to management and customers.
Performance of internal as well as supplier audits and driving resolution of compliance issues.
3+ years of experience in Quality Engineering
Bachelor's Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing , Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
Knowledge of Government and Industry Quality Standards
Experience with Microsoft Office, especially Excel to analyze data
U.S. citizenship is required
Travel up to 50%
Experience working on space flight programs.
Semiconductor processing, assembly and screening knowledge or experience
Experience with IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001
Coursework in Statistics and Quality Assurance
Working experience using MiniTab
Training in Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing
