Allegheny Science & Technology (AST) is currently looking for an Environmental Engineer or Environmental Scientist to provide expert scientific expertise and scientific management and strategic planning support for research activities related to evaluating and reducing environmental impacts of ocean energy technologies.
Must have knowledge of marine hydrokinetic energy (MHK) technologies and operations.
Apply technical expertise in monitoring competitively awarded and National Laboratory Marine Hydrokinetics (MHK) technologies projects, including tracking project milestones and deliverables, reviewing complex scientific materials and procedures, and coordinating with project leads.
Provide expert technical support to the development of internal briefing materials for senior staff, and external communications.
Provide expert technical support in assisting with the management of DOE ocean energy environmental research projects. This includes providing rigorous technical review of plans, project methodologies scientific reports and project methodology
Provide technical contributions toward evaluation and implementation of the MHK environmental research strategy.
Lend scientific expertise to the preparation and evaluation of DOE funding solicitations.
Coordinate interagency and international collaborations regarding environmental research on ocean renewable energy technologies.
Bachelor's Degree with 5+ years of relevant ocean environmental research experience.
Demonstrated experience (either educationally or professionally) conducting and managing ocean environmental research, preferably on ocean energy technologies.
Proven success working in a multi-disciplinary environment where teamwork is essential.
Demonstrated oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience with actively tracking and monitoring government-funded research and development projects.
Master's Degree or PhD is preferred (with 1 year or more of experience) in Marine Biology, Oceanography, or other marine/ocean science field.
