Fixed Equipment MechanicalIntegrity Engineer

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Fixed Equipment Mechanical Integrity Engineer, are to:

Relied upon to support final decisions on mechanical integrity and recommend solutions to protect the site’s and Bayer’s freedom to operate;
Work on complex engineering problems that have a high value to the site and business;
Work across plants and sites to develop solutions for the site and Crop Sciences Division;
Lead or support global projects to improve mechanical integrity within Crop Sciences;
Research and implement best practices and introduce new materials of construction or solutions to improve mechanical integrity at the plant, site and division level;
Subject matter expert on American Petroleum Institute Inspection and repair standards and train others on their application;
Conduct audits on equipment fabrication shops and suppliers to ensure compliance with Bayer standards and expectations;
Lead investigations on process safety-related equipment failures;
Manage the site Fixed Asset Integrity program, focusing on effective inspection and maintenance strategies as well as driving improved performance of fixed assets;
Drive the development and utilization of the risk-based inspection strategies per API 580/581 to minimize risk of equipment failures and process safety incidents;
Design corrosion testing programs and evaluate corrosion monitoring data, predict equipment life and recommend inspection intervals;
Perform Engineering and fitness for service evaluations per API, ASME or applicable industry guidelines/standards, including evaluations per API- for Capital Projects;
Provide technical expertise in developing and maintaining fixed equipment procedures, specifications, and inspection procedures to optimize overall effectiveness as it relates to industry recommended practices and OSHA PSM (Process Safety Metrics) Guidelines;
Provide technical mentoring to Unit Inspectors and Unit Engineers on key corrosion, inspection, and repair principles for fixed equipment;
Technically evaluates and approves requests for installation of Temporary Repair Devices, hot taps, stopples, line freezes, welding on live equipment, etc;
Provide technical support for equipment installation or repair as needed.

Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our LIFE values. More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field;
American Petroleum Institute (API) Certifications;
Technical expertise in metallurgy, inspection technology, corrosion, and regulatory codes/standards compliance. (API, ASME, NACE, ASNT, AWS etc.);
Experience managing Risk Based Inspection Programs;
10 years minimum of relevant Engineering experience;
5 years minimum as a Mechanical Integrity Engineer;
Must be able to perform work in a manufacturing plant environment, including ascending/descending stairs and ladders;
Computer proficiency in Windows based software.

Preferred Qualification:
Knowledge of SAP and Meridium APM.
