CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Generate conceptual design sketches and drawings.
Performs detailed mechanical design work by using SolidWorks software to create new products.
Work with managerial, engineers, designers, and technical personnel to determine product intent, function, features and final design.
Create handmade models and 3D printed prototypes.
Define test standards for new products.
Performs thorough testing and records results of proof of concepts and production prototypes.
Creates product specification sheets and manual outlines for new products.
Understand engineering principles, technical aspects, limitations of materials and components and apply to designs appropriately.
Researches market opportunities, customer needs, and competition to develop new products.
Coordinates across departments and tracks projects using project management systems (Bluemine, ClickUp, Trello, etc.) to ensure deadlines are met.
Communicates with factories/vendors to send and receive technical information and quotations on new product proposals or products with quality concerns.
Participate in market and user-experience research through sales field trips, field hunts, and interactions with customers at trade shows.
Interfaces with Quality Assurance staff in initial production inspection and failure analysis reports.
Assists with technical training of Sales/Marketing/Quality Assurance on new product programs.
Supports and assists assembly line and manufacturing efforts as needed.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or industrial design with strong knowledge base in mechanical design.
4+ years of work-related experience.
Highly proficient with Solidworks, Outlook, Excel, Word.
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously from concept to late product lifecycle.
Willing to study and learn various technologies and programs.
Ability to set up and operate product test criteria.
Self-motivated, decisive, independent problem solver and able to work in team environment.
Must possess communication skills with the ability to understand technical language and translate for non-technical employees and customers.
Excellent computer skills.
Experience and interest in outdoor/hunting markets a must.
Annual salary $55-$60k
