WestRock currently has an opening for a Reliability Engineer at our Battle Creek, Michigan papermill facility that produces coated paperboard from recycled products. This position reports to the Maintenance Manager and supports the maintenance team.
The following are essential job functions: Must have an outstanding safety record and engage in safety activities across the mill. Will lead the overall Reliability improvement efforts of the mill. Responsible for developing and tracking maintenance budgets, developing and prioritizing mill reliability opportunity lists, leading process improvement projects, and setting the expectation for the mill in the area of reliability. The Reliability Engineer will also have the responsibility for creating, managing, and optimizing the Mill Preventative and Predictive Maintenance program and managing capital improvement projects. Responsible for overall mill equipment maintenance and should be knowledgeable about maintenance planning and scheduling practices. Lead with a relentless pursuit to improve. Develop and implement programs to assure continuous reliability of production equipment and processes. Lead troubleshooting of equipment problems and apply Root Cause Analysis practices to equipment failure investigations. Implement production reliability programs including TPM, Preventative Maintenance (PM), and PDM (Predictive Maintenance). Drive the implementation of Reliability engineering practices and programs in the mill. Design and implement maintenance procedures and maintenance management systems (i.e. CMMS) to assure compliance with fundamental maintenance standards and practices.
Required skills include: Experience in a manufacturing leadership role. Proven leadership skills in developing strategies to attain performance objectives required. Experience using Reliability tools such as Pareto analysis, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) preferred. Experience working with advance Predictive Maintenance tools such as Infrared, Vibration, Oil, and Ultrasonic analysis, shaft and machine alignment, and precision maintenance preferred.
Physical Requirements: Able to perform at heights, in confined space, ability to lift 50 lbs. and carry up to 50 lbs. Must be able to climb, bend, stoop, reach, turn and twist.
Additional Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree required (preferably in an engineering, business, or technology arena).
