Vecima is seeking a talented Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS) Engineer to create next-generation data-over-cable and digital video products. The successful candidate will contribute to the design and development of Vecima’s products as part of an industry-leading team of innovative and passionate technology leaders.
The ideal candidate would work out of our Saskatoon, SK office.
Education and Experience Requirements:
A degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering or a Dual-degree in EE/Computer Science or equivalent.
5+ years of design, development, and implementation experience relating to DOCSIS 3.0 and 3.1 physical layer integrated circuits.
Applicants should possess the following skills and experience:
Understanding and documenting the configuration and operation of integrated circuits designed to implement the physical layer of DOCSIS 3.0 and 3.1.
Knowledge and understanding of the radio frequency signal and system requirements of a DOCSIS 3.1 cable plant including the configuration and signal components of OFDM and OFDMA signals.
The ability to analyze & debug both configuration and data plane messages conforming to the DOCSIS Remote PHY Specification.
Evaluation of physical layer and system requirements of DOCSIS 3.0 and 3.1 head-end hardware with the goal of designing, architecting solutions for, and implementing products or features that meet these requirements.
Background in any of the following areas would be an asset:
The physical layer of DOCSIS 3.0 and 3.1.
Digitally modulated signals such as QAM, OFDM, and OFDMA.
Digital Signal Processing.
Knowledge of C++ to the extent that code can be read and understood.
IEEE 1588-2008 – Standard for a Precision Clock Synchronization Protocol for Networked Measurement and Control Systems.
Configuration and operation of Converged Cable Access Platforms (CCAP)’s.
Development and verification experience using Matlab.
Design and experimental verification and debugging of digital circuits using equipment such as Vector Signal Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, etc.
