CobbFendley is a multi-discipline firm founded in 1980 in Houston, Texas, providing engineering and surveying services. CobbFendley is looking for an energetic, self-motivating, and technically competent individual to join our firm for a summer internship. The services that CobbFendley provides are Construction Management, GAS Pipeline Design, GIS, Hydraulics and Hydrology, Land Development, Power Delivery, Right-Of-Way, Site Development, Structural Engineering, SUE, Surveying, Transportation, Telecom, Utility Engineering, Traffic Engineering, and Municipal Engineering.
The successful candidate’s most important qualifications include:
Enrollment in a Bachelor of Science in a relevant Engineering field from an ABET accredited university
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D or Microstation/Geopak a plus
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Motivated to learn in a dynamic environment with short deadlines
Perform basic project functions of production coordination, planning, organizing, directing, controlling, financial management and marketing assistance.
Function as a mentee to project engineers and technical professionals to assist in their technical training and development.
Training to meet company safety standards.
Work in a safe and efficient manner at all times.
Sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time.
Mobility within the office including movement between floors and workstations.
Repeated motions (i.e.-typing, reaching, bending, lifting and carrying).
Communication with other employees and clients.
Most work is performed in a professional office environment. Some trips to client offices and job sites for observations may be required.
Job site observations factors could include: walking and climbing on uneven surfaces, exposure to outdoor environments and extreme weather (heat and freezing temperatures), noise exposure, driving for extended periods of time, exposure to allergens (i.e. pollen, dust, cedar, sumac, poison ivy, etc.), exposure to construction and traffic work zones, possible hand and power tool use, and extended periods of Personal Protective Equipment use.
Extended use of electronic devices (i.e.-computers, printers, copiers, scanners, plotters and telephones).
Use of cutting tools and equipment (plotting equipment, rotary paper cutter, etc.).
Expected hours of work:
This is a full-time summer internship position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm.
No overnight travel is anticipated. Some occasional local day travel may be necessary.
If and when the duties and responsibilities change and develop, the job description will be reviewed and subject to changes of business necessity.
