We have an immediate opening at our Lakewood, OH facility for a Process Engineer, reporting to the Engineering Manager. The primary functions of this position are to provide technical leadership and support to production departments and to lead and manage capital projects, while supporting safety, quality, productivity, and profitability of NeoGraf.
Provides technical expertise and support to production departments, including driving continuous improvement activities and assisting with troubleshooting.
Sets up and conducts experiments for projects, programs, or systems using known methods. Projects require understanding and application of scientific and engineering principles.
Leads capital projects in support of improvement or product/process development opportunities. This includes management of project schedule and expenditures against plan and budget.
Provides required engineering to specify and commission new equipment and/or modifications to existing equipment. Involvement includes scope, estimate, procurement, construction/installation and startup.
Is responsible for organizing the available technical resources and controlling the day- to-day operations of programs or projects.
Consults internal and external resources and directs the work of hourly employees who are assigned to the project as well as other engineers and outside consultants/contractors.
Interfaces with maintenance personnel to ensure maintenance plans are developed and met for equipment repairs and TPM activities on existing and new equipment.
Prepares and presents project/cost summaries for management.
Participates in planning technical details of programs, projects or systems within clearly defined objectives and standards.
Interfaces with sales, marketing, R&D, and development teams to implement new products and or processes.
Maintains awareness of related technologies, programs, projects, problems, plant processes and marketing.
Applies new technology to older equipment to improve equipment performance, reliability, and throughput.
Adapts existing technology in novel ways to solve problems and to complete projects.
Monitors, tracks, and reports key performance indicator data. Reports are both written and verbal.
Insures that HS&EP policies affecting programs and projects are followed.
Applies quality standards to projects to insure compliance with certification requirements in plant applications.
Complies with and facilitates all change management processes.
Provides engineering support for other plant departments as needed to sustain safe, efficient and reliable plant operations.
Engineering degree, BS in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, required.
Three to five years’ experience in an engineering role in a heavy manufacturing or processing environment.
Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve technical problems.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects.
Strong computer skills.
Flexibility for occasional travel. (0-10%)
Ability to establish and maintain strong vendor relationships.
Ability to function in a self-directed work team.
Motivated self-starter, hands-on approach, and detail oriented.
Knowledgeable of HS&E policies as they affect area of responsibility.
Ability to successfully manage and troubleshoot unforeseen problems related to external vendors as well as internal team members.
Demonstrated ability to handle projects of medium to major importance in a cost effective manner.
Understanding and application of project management principles.
Demonstrated application of novel solutions to solve problems and complete projects.
Knowledgeable of SPC principles, control charts, statistics.
Knowledgeable of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma concepts.
Demonstrated ability to supervise personnel in a team environment.
Knowledgeable of applications of various quality principles and has applied to projects.
Proficient in a wide variety of software programs including AutoCAD, Solid works and project management scheduling tools.
