Job Summary: The staff developer is responsible for coordinating and leading educational offerings for staff at EMMC. This position will have a primary focus on the development of staff caring for the pediatric population to include ED, Peds, PICU and NICU. (Often this may extend to the other EMHS affiliates and the community.) They oversee the ANA application process for continuing education nursing credits and promote staff development for both new and existing staff.
Brief list of duties to include, but not limited to:
Conducting educational sessions
Coordinating both ongoing and featured programs,
Providing guidance for professional development
Teaching lectures, and supporting skills development.
Graduate of accredited school of nursing
Current licensure as a registered nurse in Maine
Bachelor's Degree required.
Two years' experience in various phases of clinical practice.
Minimum of two years' experience teaching adults including excellent presentation and consultation skills, and program/curriculum development.
Knowledge and use of varied learning strategies required.
Master's degree preferred.
Certification in Continuing Education and Staff Development by ANCC preferred or within two years of employment.
Other Experience Required: Ability to use a variety of audiovisual equipment including PowerPoint presentations and LCD projectors and basic audiovisuals. Experience in applying for continuing education credits preferred. . Experience with Windows based computer software required and ability to research on the internet. Must have demonstrated excellent customer service skills; ability to be an effective team member or leader; and ability to problem solve creatively. Experience is desirable in facilitating problem solving groups. Cognizant of contract process as approved by EMMC for students doing clinical rotations.
Physical Requirements: Light to medium carrying up to 50 lbs., straight pulling/pushing, reaching in all directions, stooping, walking long distances, standing, sitting, repetitive motion/finger activity for sustained periods of time, speaking, hearing, moderate phone contact, visual activity.
Working Environment: Clean, well-lighted, typical office atmosphere. Well ventilated, at times working in close environment with others. Requires some travel from office to other EMMC campuses.
