Job Description
Wood Mackenzie owns and operates a growing international network of 5000+ sensors collecting real-time data on commodity sectors: energy, metals/mining, shipping, and manufacturing. Wood Mackenzie’s proprietary monitoring systems measure millions of data points per day.
The Field Engineer will work with Woodmac’s sensor network operations team to support expansion and maintenance of the sensor network in the Midwest region of the United States (Louisville based) and lower 48 states.
Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000
Key Responsibilities
Frequent travel anywhere in the lower 48 states and possibly Canada (Avg. 4 days per week).
Installation of monitoring systems near electric power generating plants, measuring flow on overhead power lines (wirelessly measurement – no contact with powerlines).
Work with team members to pre-plan and complete sensor installations, troubleshoot technical problems and ship/receive new or old equipment.
Verify incoming data quality from new sensors and calibrate the data collected from the devices.
Perform maintenance on previously installed monitoring systems in the network.
Troubleshoot problem components and replace faulty parts (on- and off-site).
Be prepared to work in all types of weather conditions.
Locating acceptable monitor sites and establishing relationship with landowners.
Heavy use of field service tracking software like Salesforce (inventory, job tracking and customer/contract management)
Qualifications
Operations and technical work experience or a bachelor's degree.
You need to be capable of working independently and traveling during the workweek.
You must be motivated, conscientious, highly organized, and comfortable performing within deadlines.
Excellent communication and attention to detail.
You MUST have a safe driving record and valid driver's license.
Be able to lift 50lbs
You should have experience with common hand tools (drills, screwdriver, pliers, multimeter, sockets/wrenches)
This job might be for you if
Are comfortable dealing with private landowners and negotiating easement/lease agreements.
Enjoy hands on, technical work that will include the physical installation and maintenance of low voltage power line sensors and infrared cameras. We will train you, no experience required.
Have the ability to travel out of state during the week. M-F travel only, home every weekend.
Flying to the project site is common, keeping a schedule is a key factor to success.
You are highly motivated, organized, enjoy traveling, and working outdoors.
Want to be part of a strong team, which has weekly meetings and frequent communication.
Are good at being prepared, and face to face communications with Landowners.
