CAD/CAM Operators assist the Sales and Production department in the drafting and design of production and customers parts, maintenance of drawing library and machine G-Code library.
Conversion of customer supplied drawings to company CAD standards
Sheet metal flat pattern creation from 3D drawings and models.
Producing CAD drawings from shop/mechanical drawings from scratch
Assist sales with quotes and estimates
Programming (G-Code) of laser, turret punch press, press brake and other production equipment utilizing CAM software.
CAD/CAM Operators must be highly detail oriented, able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and possess a high degree of problem solving capabilities
Qualifications and Requirements
Advanced 3D CAD skill level & experience with Solidworks, Autodesk Inventor, Catia, Metamation, Diamondsoft, FlowWaterjet and Mastercam required.
Knowledge of Amada Press Brakes, Punch Presses Mitsubushi Lasers, 3 Axis Vertical Machining Centers, G-Code programming
10 years’ experience as a CAD/CAM Operator in a Precision Sheet Metal Shop
Ability to read & interpret blueprints, shop and mechanical drawings; including GD&T data
Knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100
Demonstrate knowledge of manufacturing techniques, including complete knowledge of welding such at TIG and MIG. Be able to design fixtures for welding and fitting assemblies.
Effective communications skills, written & oral
Basic use/understanding of hand tools & measurement devices and procedures
Ability to work unsupervised, follow through all assigned projects to completion, and utilize all available resources in the accomplishment of tasks
Ability to sit/stand for long periods of time
Knowledge of Amada Press Brakes, Punch Presses Mitsubushi Lasers, 3 Axis Vertical Machining
Centers, G-Code programming with Metamation, Flowsoft, Fabriwin MasterCam.
Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent
Previous experience in a manufacturing or job-shop environment
Experience with CAM software/CNC programing and/or machinery
Experience working in metals and metal forming
CAD Operators can expect to work on a wide range of projects/tasks, often all within a single shift. The operator must be able to focus on numerous goals simultaneously in order to assure success.
