Process Safety and Environmental Engineer
Location: Omaha, NE
This Process Safety and Environmental Engineer position supports programs concerning ethanol plant PSM compliance, Program Follow-up, and Auditing. This position works under immediate supervision of the PSM Engineering Manager. Responsibilities include verifying compliance for activities such as PHAs, MOCs, PSSR, PSI and Mechanical Integrity and 3-year compliance audits as well as other projects as assigned.
Assist in Auditing and Support – Internal PSM Auditing, PSM Online Auditing, Environmental Compliance Auditing
Compliance Report Review
Special Projects as assigned
Participate in and lead PHAs for complete facility processes, as well as for special project evaluations
Provide support for investigations for EHSS/PSM/Chemical related incidents and near misses
Follow-up and track corrective actions for audits and PHAs in a timely manner
Maintain up-to-date records at all times to comply with inspections by state and federal agencies
Create, maintain, and update P&IDs and PFDs for all facilities, as required
Conduct environmental compliance audits
Help corporate staff to complete the year end reports
Other tasks as necessary to support the EHSS and PSM departments
Assist plants with software integration
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Working knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations dealing with OSHA and PSM regulations, environmental permitting, air and water quality , hazardous waste, water use and discharge, storm water, spill prevention controls and countermeasures
Detail-oriented; proficiency for accuracy; dependable; positive attitude; team player
Strong MS Office experience and proficiency with developing and using spreadsheets and/or databases
Ability to multi-task and take ownership of assigned projects
Ability to lead by example
Good communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to travel on a regular basis to support the essential functions
Work includes both in an office and outdoor process environments in all seasons
Bachelor degree in Engineering (Chemical, Process, Mechanical, Environmental) or related field;
Direct PSM Program Experience a plus
AutoCAD experience a plus
Auditor Training, PHA training or ability to obtain both within 6 months of hire
Travel up to 25%
