Why does the job exist?
This position administers state and federal loan and grant funds for the planning, design, and construction of water, wastewater, and solid waste projects. The job ensures that public funds are properly spent without fraud, waste, or abuse.
How does it get done?
The position is responsible for engineering review of construction contract documents, preliminary engineering reports, technical consultant contracts and financial documents. It also performs interim and final construction inspections and reviews and approves change orders and closeout documents for water, wastewater and solid waste construction projects.
Who are the customers?
This position serves to assist funding recipients meet the technical, managerial and financial requirements of the funding received from various state sources and complete projects on time and within budget.
The ideal candidate for this position will have at least a Bachelor of Science degree in civil or environmental engineering and at least six (6) years of experience in the water and/or wastewater field.
Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant engineering discipline with licensure and four (4) years of engineering experience. Must be certified by the NMBLPEPS as a Licensed Professional Engineer in good standing.
No substitutions. Must possess Required Licensure, Certification or Registration and required number of years of experience
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License.
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Travel required to construction sites in varying weather conditions. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
