The Test Engineer, you will create and specify test procedures to adequately run test HVAC equipment to specification. The Test Engineer will apply principles and techniques of electrical engineering and statistical data analysis to accomplish goals. Knowledge of leak, run, evacuation and charge testing as well as HVAC functional principals is a plus. Must have the ability to work under pressure to troubleshoot test problems, determine and address cause. Work involves the application of more complex engineering principles to develop test methods and procedures to maintain and improve product quality standards.
Designs, tests, and helps maintain electrical test equipment.
Troubleshoot test and unit electrical problems. And work closely with plant maintenance electricians to find electrical test issues that occur.
Spends time on the shop floor and understands how the product is fabricated and assembled.
Responsible for the design and development of special test equipment (STE), test fixtures and prescribes test set-ups in support of development and production testing requirements
Experience developing test plans including test strategies, timelines, a scientific approach to estimates, demand, capacity, utilization plans and test environment planning
Ability to reverse engineer existing equipment
Bachelor’ s Degree in Engineering desired
Strong understanding of piping schematics, pressure regulation and valves
Knowledge of control systems and data acquisition hardware
Bi-lingual Spanish capabilities are a plus
Experience working in a Union shop is a plus
. Other skills below:
Quality team includes Quality engineers, technicians, auditors who all assist with run test issues and troubleshooting. Years of experience range from over 30 years to 1 year. No direct customer involvement but sometimes troubleshoot with field technical personnel to investigate issues found in the field. Culture is to work side by side with bargaining unit personnel to establish run tests and troubleshoot units as needed. Also includes office duties programming, statistical analysis, root cause analysis.
- HVAC equipment experience would be most helpful
- Ability to set-up test programs -ability to write test not just run test
- Troubleshoot (not design)
Possibly take on more test responsibilities such as involvement with new product development and testing. Or other factories? This is out of my range of responsibility but could be developed with corporate quality.
Knowledge of HVAC equipment, working knowledge - mechanical & electrical
Makes data based decisions and conducts root cause analysis based on data.
Statistical analysis background or capable to learn
Data analysis skills
Problem solving skills
Able to work with all levels of personnel
