The Systems Engineer provides professional technology support and maintenance to all clients as it pertains to network infrastructure and end user operations.
Bachelor’s degree in an IT related field is required.
Entry level industry certifications desired from recognized technology manufacturers such as CCNA, MCSA, VCP or other industry certification authorities.
Cisco and/or Microsoft certifications are desired.
3+ years of network engineering experience.
Experience with network technologies and with system, security, and network monitoring tools
Understanding of the latest security principles, techniques, and protocols.
Knowledge of Cisco, Meraki, Juniper and HPE network environments and command line interfaces.
Knowledge of IP and Subnetting Practices.
Knowledge of network routing protocols and standards, such as BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP.
Knowledge of network switching protocols and standards, such as link aggregation, VLANs, 802.1Q trunks, and VTP.
Knowledge of virtualized environments and hypervisors, such as VMware ESX and Microsoft Hyper-V.
Knowledge of Windows based environments.
Knowledge of cloud environments such as Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS.
Must exhibit a high degree of professionalism and maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
Must be able to demonstrate critical thinking and analytical skills.
Must have excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills in business and technical environments.
Professionally and appropriately communicate with a diverse group of individuals.
Able to work in a highly organized manner within a fast-paced, innovative, and continuously changing environment.
Must be computer literate with the capability of performing at an intermediate or advanced level with respect to the Microsoft Office Suite of products, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Be able to reach a client’s location/P&N office in a timely manner and to be on site at client and/or P&N offices to perform job responsibilities.
Documents all related changes and configurations including service tickets.
Provides support to all clients regarding issues or upgrades.
Participates in formal and on-the-job training.
Prepares and completes assigned tasks in an efficient manner and within allotted timeframes.
Documents procedures performed, findings and/or other issues, and drafts/compiles work papers, reports and client correspondence exhibiting effective writing skills.
Monitors workload to meet billable hour expectations and performs timely reviews of work products prior to submission for further review.
Prepares for relevant certification exams until completed and maintains the required CPE for firm and licensing requirements.
Provides courteous and prompt service to all internal and external parties. Prioritizes and addresses requests and assignments in a professional and cooperative manner.
Identifies opportunities and recommends methods to improve service, work processes and financial performance (e.g., procedure optimization).
Assists in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
Assists co-workers in the completion of tasks and assignments to ensure continuity of service. Actively supports teamwork throughout the organization.
