The Systems Engineer III provides support to the United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) Program Executive Office – TRANSCOM (PEO-T) for assigned programs and related activities throughout the acquisition lifecycle following the Integrated Defense Acquisition, Technology, & Logistics Life Cycle Management Framework.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Formulates/defines test cases based on system requirements and specifications.
Devises or modifies procedures to test a unit or a system as a whole.
Performs test cases, documents the results and tracks changes.
Prepares detailed specifications from which program bugs will be corrected and follows up with additional tests to ensure proper functional and system behavior per spec.
Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.
Knowledge of Technical assessments to ensure compliance with policies and reviews and required evaluations to ensure compliance with Financial Information Systems Management Act (FISMA) policies.
Experience with Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs) on a wide range of PMO engineering topics. Experience conducting Program Engineering Milestone Reviews, e.g., System Requirements Review, Design Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, Operational Readiness Reviews and Incident Report Working Groups.
Conducts Technical Reviews of development Contractor-produced deliverables.
Creates and maintains PMO program architecture artifacts in DODAF or Government approved format and analyzes system architectures to recommended enhancements to improve system performance; assesses acquisition solutions for conformity, fits options and purpose to the assigned program’s targeted architectural solution(s).
Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.
Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and co-workers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions as the best of own ability.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related discipline, and a minimum of five (5) years’ experience, or equivalent combination of education / experience.

This position requires Secret Security Clearance
IAWIP Certification: IAT I, IAT II, IAM I
JOB SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
Knowledge of sustainment/deployment/implementation approaches and ability to assess and recommended improvements to system availability and user experience.
Understanding of hardware and/or software (COTS/GOTS) to meet system specifications using recognized estimating approaches to support government cost estimates.
Possesses skills to ensure all technical approaches/recommendations are in harmony with USTRANSCOM Enterprise System Engineering and Architecture strategies and vision.
Able to identify technical risks within programs and offer options to reduce risk.
Understands PMO Business Intelligence Center of Excellence (BI COE) activities that support IGC front- and back-end applications.
Experienced in risk identification, analysis, mitigation and reporting.
Able to interface with IT engineers to resolve program specific data quality issues as they occur.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
